Dr. Robert Suurmond, Assistant Professor, UM/SBE shares his insights on supply chain complexity, which has become a topic of pressing concern for contemporary supply chains and managers, even before the fall-out from the Covid-19 pandemic. 

Introducing Roel Willems, Program Director of the Healthcare Hub at BISCI. Roel is a passionate leader in the digital workspace. Currently at BISCI, Roel is working in the healthcare sector, bringing together various companies in the medical technology space to optimise the value chain using technology. In the interview he explains in further detail the vision of healthcare hub, challenges along the way and why he thinks BISCI will pull this off.

At the beginning of 2021, Rabobank officially announced its online marketplace for carbon trading: the Rabo Carbon Bank ("RCB"). Using remote sensing, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, RCB aims to create a globally scalable and transparent solution for climate change while empowering local smallholder farmers, thus building on Rabobank's origins as a farmers' bank (Hoff, 2021).

Three out of the five SLF Thesis Award 2021 nominees are MSc theses from GSCMC programme supervised by Adriana Saraceni under the Holland Robotic Logistics – Last Mile Delivery project. BISCI and Maastricht University School of Business and Economics congratulate Olga Levkovych, Christian Fehling and Robin Kant.

While the general public and general management areas are maybe only now waking up to what supply chain managers and scholars have been calling for years, there is also a novel aspect that deserves more attention.

At Maastricht University School of Business and Economics today to deliver a guest lecture by Ton Geurts, Business Director and Emma Declercq, Project Manager; at the Business Engineering class of our BISCI colleague Lieven Quintens, Senior Researcher. The lecture was on the topic “Sustainable Business: from qualifier to differentiator”. As part of the lecture was an elaborated quiz as an opportunity for the students to test their sustainability knowledge, examples of sustainable business models, its benefits and some examples from the industry. 

Snapshot from yesterday's guest lecture by Ton Geurts, BISCI’s Business Director gave at the Rotterdam Business School organised by Dr Chrisoula (Chris) Papadopoulou MSC Coordinator/Supply Chain Expert. The topic was “Purpose-driven leadership, building Resilience". Ton emphasised that pressing societal trends such as CO2 reduction regulation and the EU Green Deal make it imperative for corporations to act now. Moreover, it enables companies to stay relevant, be more resilient and more competitive in the future.
